The engine does not start, and the immobilizer indicator is blinking (especially if the battery recently went dead and the engine was jump-started).
PROBABLE CAUSE
The immobilizer IMOES code has been erased.
NOTE: This problem occurs only if all these conditions are met: • The security system is set. • The battery goes dead. • Battery power is connected to the vehicle, then disconnected in a very short period of time (milliseconds).

The A/C kit and instructions for the 2001 Civic are all new. Follow these instructions carefully. Use only HFC-134a in this system; do not use CFC 12 (Freon); do not install parts designed for use in a CFC system. Use a charging station. A/C charging stations and refrigerant recovery/recycling stations minimize the release of CFCs and HFCs to the atmosphere. Use them for all A/C charging and service work according to the manufacturers’ instructions. Do not overcharge. This system requires only the amount of HFC-134a refrigerant shown below. Removal (1980-95) 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC of compression stroke. Remove splash shield. Remove power steering pump, leaving hoses attached. Remove A/C belt idler pulley bracket and belt. Remove alternator belt. Remove power steering pump bracket. 2. Remove cruise control actuator (if equipped). Remove power steering reservoir bracket. Remove engine mount nuts. Loosen engine mount bolt. Pivot side engine mount cushion aside. 3. Remove valve cover. Remove upper timing belt cover. Remove crankshaft pulley. Loosen timing belt tension adjuster bolt 180 degrees. Push tensioner to release belt tension. Retighten tension adjuster bolt. Disengage timing belt from pulleys. See Fig. 1 , Fig. 3 or Fig. 4 .

The transmission shifts harshly, or it may stay in first gear. The harsh shifting is more noticeable on the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts under light throttle. It is not affected by operating temperature. The MIL may be on with DTC P0730 or P0715 stored. PROBABLE CAUSE Contamination of the linear solenoid and its associated passages inside the transmission, or a broken spring internal to the transmission. Flush the transmission with Genuine Honda ATF-Z1, then replace the linear solenoid. If shift feel is not affected, replace the transmission.

1. Allow engine to cool before beginning installation.
2. Access the underside of the vehicle.
- APR recommends utilizing a lift for this installation.
- A jack with jack stands or ramps can be used if a lift is not available.
3. Remove the Splash Shield. With the flat head screw driver, unfasten all of the quarter turn screws. Note how splash shield is oriented in the car before removing.
4. Remove the three 6mm bolts from the front lower engine mount.
