The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) for this standard, asking for comments on additional tests conducted by the agency since the 2005 notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) does not believe the additional tests provide meaningful information for a standard requiring two-sided testing.

Please note the following:
1) This is for information ONLY; you take full responsibility for what you do. If you blow up your car, do not come yelling at me.
2) I did this install on a US spec 2005 BMW Z4. I do NOT know if it will work on BMW’s from other countries.
3) This install did NOT work because my Z4 already had an auto top down feature from BMW that is conflicting with the E-Open. In order to get this to work in my car I have to find out how to disable the internal remote top down feature. The unit was removed from my old 2003 Z4 and it worked just fine. All of the connections are the same.
The car: If your car was made 4/04 or later, you will have problems. The car already has an Auto-Top down feature.

2007 Porsche 911 Targa 4 & 4S
Porsche’s Targa concept, originally launched in 1966 and named after the storied Targa Florio race, was the first car of its type to offer all the driving sensations of a convertible without sacrificing the benefits of a solid roof. Then and now, the Targa continues to evoke a distinct cache unlike any other sports car, conveying serious sports car performance with the free-spirited thrill of open-air motoring.

As with the previous Targa model, the most striking feature of the elegant sports car is the large, sliding-glass roof and glass rear hatch, which blend sleekly into the classic 911 lines while providing the Targa with its own unique personality. A polished, anodized aluminum trim strip runs the entire length of the roof frame, emphasizing the 911’s classic silhouette.
