1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 2 Using Metra’s 86-5618, pull the factory radio/climate control panel from the dash. (Fig. A) 3 Disconnect the audio system connectors, blower motor switch connector, vacuum hose harness, a/c damper door switch connector, and potentiometer connector. Remove the panel. 4 Remove (2) torx-head screws securing the mounting clips to the sides of the factory radio/climate control panel and remove the clips. (Fig. B) 5 Mount the clips to the Integrated Mounting Kit with the same torx-head screws.

Some 2006 – 2009 model year Camry vehicles equipped with the 2AZ-FE engine and U250E automatic transaxle (ATM) may exhibit a harsh 5–4 downshift under the following conditions: • ATM at normal operating temperature • After driving above 45 mph (72 km/h) • Decelerating through 28 mph (45 km/h) The line pressure control solenoid assembly (SLT) has been improved to reduce this condition on customer complaint vehicles.

1999-2000 Toyota Camry Radio Replacement
The plastic dash panel surrounding the radio and air conditioner controls must be unsnapped from the dash in order to gain access to the bolts which secure the radio. Pull out the ashtray at the bottom of the plastic dash panel. With your hands, grab the bottom of the plastic dash panel below the ashtray location and pull firmly until the plastic dash panel begins to unsnap from the dash. Continue to pull the dash until the sides and top of the dash panel completely unsnap from the main dash assembly. The radio is secured to the dash with four (4) 10 mm bolt screws, (1) at each side corner of the radio. Locate and remove all four bolt screws. Pull the radio out of the dash. Unplug the black cable plugged into the rear of the radio. Unplug (2) white plastic wire harness connectors snapped into the rear of the radio. The radio can now be completely removed from the dash.

Cable Routing and Installation (a) Install and route the tuner cable from the center cluster and along the front support bar. (Fig. 3-1) (b) Provide sufficient cable slack to connect to the tuner, and then secure the cable to the existing wire harness with lock tie. Cut excess off lock tie. Connect wire harness to head unit. (c) Using lock ties attach to existing W /H. Trim lock tie excess. (Fig. 3-2) (d) Route to the existing clamps. (Fig. 3-2) (f) Route the cable as shown and secure with lock tie. Trim lock tie excess. (Fig. 3-4) (g) Route the tuner cable under the rear passenger seat and secure with cushion tape. STEP 1: Remove the speedometer dash trim and instrument cluster.
STEP 2: Wipe the area where the antenna will be installed with the alcohol wipe provided in the installation kit.
STEP 3: Wipe the back of the antenna with the alcohol wipe (non-text side). The top side of the antenna reads “TX/RX Side” for the rectangular antenna. Some installation kits will have a round antenna. The round antenna also has a logo on the top side. The text/logo side of the antenna should be installed in the “up” position and never taped against the vehicle.
