General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2001-03 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra model vehicles, equipped with a 4.3L V6 (RPO L35 – VIN W or RPO LU3 – VIN X) engine. The ignition distributor cap and rotor in these vehicles may corrode and cause ignition system failure. This condition may result in rough engine idle, misfire, stalls, engine cranks but does not run and/or illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).

1. Take the kit out of the box and lay everything out. You can install either the ballasts or bulbs first but typically it is easier to install the bulbs first.
2. There are 3 T27 torx screws holding the headlight on. The 2 on top are visible in this picture.
3. with the 2 screws removed.
4. The third screw is shown here. A long extension is needed to get to it and an extendable magnet is helpful to retrieve the screw (or bit if it falls).
5. Disconnect the headlight and turn signal connectors and remove the headlight by pulling it toward the outside of the car and toward you.

Start with a complete tune up (if not recently conducted):
• Replace ignition components: spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires (use Bosch ignition parts and use only W7DC or W7DTC plugs)
• Replace air and fuel filters
• Replace injector seals and idle screw O-ring
• Tighten the injector holders; replace the injector holders if needed
• Check for vacuum leaks using carburetor cleaner (spray around hoses, gaskets, injector O-rings); if idle goes up,
leak found (replace faulty part — use a bit of RTV when replacing gaskets)

Identifying Clutch Cover & Disc Component With Torque Specifications REMOVAL 1. Drain the clutch fluid and transaxle gear oil. 2. Remove the transaxle assembly. 3. Insert the special tool (09411-25000) in the clutch disc to prevent the disc from falling. 4. Loosen the bolts that attach the clutch cover to the flywheel in a star pattern. 5. Loosen the bolts in succession, one or two turns at a time, to avoid bending the cover flange. CAUTION: DO NOT clean the clutch disc or release bearing with cleaning solvent.
