A few rules of thumb:
1. If the car has an OEM-style connector which is included in the X431 and an OBD-II connector, the OEM-style will usually provide the most capabilities for accessing OEM data.

Removal & Installation (3.0L, 3.8L, 4.0L & 5.0L) 1. CMP sensor is located on top of engine, near intake manifold. See Fig. 3 Fig. 3: Locating Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (3.0L, 3.8L, 4.0L & 5.0L; 4.2L Similar) Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO. 2. Disconnect negative battery cable. 3. Before removing, note position of electrical connector on CMP sensor. Disconnect CMP sensor electrical connector. NOTE: For Explorer models with 4.0L push rod engine, remove the upper intake manifold. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (4.0L VINX) under UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD. 4. Remove CMP sensor screws and CMP sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure CMP sensor electrical connector is pointing in original direction. Tighten CMP sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . NOTE: If the synchronizer is turned while removing the CMP sensor, it must be re-aligned before CMP sensor is installed. See CMP.

2003 MDX – Intake Manifold Removal

The intake manifold installation for honda mdx 2003. Removal 1. Remove the intake manifold cover. 2. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor 2 connector (A), and remove the breather pipe (B), then remove the intake air duct (C). 3. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), vacuum hose (C) and vacuum line mounting bolts (D). 4. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A) and the transmission breather hose clamp bracket (B). 5. Remove and plug the water bypass hoses (C). 6. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps from the intake manifold. – Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor 1 connector – Throttle actuator connector – Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor connector – Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve connector – Intake manifold tuning (IMT) (intake manifold runner control (IMRC)) actuator connector 7. Remove the upper cover mounting bolts and nuts sequentially in two or three steps, then remove the upper cover. 8. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts and nuts sequentially in two or three steps, then remove the intake manifold and spacer.

Warning: The 4×4 transfer box (txb) temperature sensor is fragile and easily damaged. There is absolutely no reason to remove the temperature sensor unless it is being replaced. Removing the Temperature Sensor
701. With the txb cold, trace the cabling back from the txb sensor (Fig.2D) to its connector at the bulkhead (Fig.A & B).
702. Disconnect the sensor, remove the detachable plastic part of the connector (txb side – Fig.1D) and carefully withdraw the cabling back to the underneath of the vehicle – (Facilitates threading through the ring spanner)

Remove the screw from behind the interior door handle Slide out the door handle trim as shown Removing the door panel from the passenger side door View of the inside of the door, panel removed 1. Remove the screw from the door handle trim. 2. Slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip. 3. Release the clip 4. Disconnect the door lock switch 5. Remove the door opener handle assembly. 6. Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill. 7. Remove the speaker grille. 8. Remove the speaker mounting screws. 9. Detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker. 10. Remove the screws in the armrest. 11. Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the clip. 12. Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame. 13. Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame. To install: 14. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Upper Intake Manifold Removal 1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. 1 Remove the hoses. 2 Loosen the clamps. 3 Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. 2. Remove the pin-type retainers and the accelerator cable splash shield. 3. Disconnect the throttle cable and the cruise control cable. 4. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connectors. 5. Disconnect the harness from the throttle body stud. 6. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator and vacuum supply hoses. 7. Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) and Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) vacuum hoses. 8. Remove the EGR valve. 1 Disconnect the vacuum hose. 2 Remove the nuts. 3 Remove the bolts. 4 Remove the EGR valve. 9. Remove the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) valve. 1 Disconnect the vacuum hose. 2 Disconnect the electrical connector. 3 Remove the bolts. 4 Remove the valve. 10. Remove the eight bolts and the upper intake manifold. Remove and discard the gaskets. Clean all mating surfaces.
Installation
1. Position new gaskets in the upper intake manifold. 2. Position the upper intake manifold and install the bolts in the sequence shown. 3. Install the EGR vacuum regulator valve. 1 Position the valve. 2 Install the bolts. 3 Connect the electrical connector. 4 Connect the vacuum hose.
