2008 Ford Mondeo UK Most Driven
The Ford Mondeo has been revealed as the most-used car in the UK, thanks to research conducted by Warranty Direct. On average, ‘Mondeo Man’ clocks up 15,483 miles each year – over 700 more than the next most-used car, the Saab 9-5.

Warranty Direct compiled statistics from more than 50,000 cars over the last 10 years to provide much more accurate details than the benchmark 12,000-mile annual average traditionally used when buying a used car.

Ford engineers have made a major breakthrough with the launch of an active suspension system on the new Ford Mondeo that not only provides a comfortable ride but combines this with sportiness and safety. Active suspension from Ford is the near constant suspension adjustment to match desired ride with road conditions and driving style.

Called Interactive Vehicle Dynamic Control (IVDC), the system offers sports, comfort and regular suspension settings and effectively eliminates the trade off engineers have to make between ride and handling with conventional suspension set ups. Once selected, the settings determine how the suspension reacts, providing rapid, imperceptible adjustments in line with the car’s behaviour and prevailing road conditions.

This is the only information provided by the manufacturer for reading diagnostic trouble codes for this system. If compressor lock occurs during A/C operation, the A/C switch indicator on the A/C control assembly starts blinking.
1. WARNING FOR A/C COMPRESSOR LOCK
When this occurs, check for compressor lock (DTC B1422) using diagnosis trouble code check then proceed to inspect the circuit or the component. Compressor lock sensor circuit. (See DTC B1422 Compressor Lock Sensor Circuit)

This article is intended to aid in diagnosing DTC’s P0171, P0174, P1130, P1131, P1150, P1151, P2195, or P2197 (system lean or lack of HEGO switches) when a vacuum leak is present. HEGO sensors, MAF sensors, and PCM replacements are not an effective repair when a vacuum leak is causing the above DTC’s.
ACTION
Perform the following inspections/repairs when the above codes are found in memory. Procedure provides instructions on how to make comparisons of the total fuel corrections (using scan tool or equivalent) at idle and high RPM’s to help determine if a vacuum leak is the root cause of the DTC’s.
