2008 Ford Leads Child Crash Test Dummy
Ford developed the more lifelike abdomen in conjunction with Dearborn-based STR Systems, a safety technology and research firm; The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Wayne State University in Detroit; the University of Virginia; and Takata Corporation, a global manufacturer of automotive safety systems.

The prototype pediatric abdomen insert is similar in size and shape to that of a 6-year-old child and is made of multiple layers of liquid silicone that, when solidified, forms a tough silicone shell. Inside is a set of electrodes immersed in a conductive fluid that comprise the sensors for the abdomen – six electrodes at the front of the abdomen and one reference electrode at the back.

Brakes are very important components on a car, because they help controlling the vehicle’s speed. Especially on fast racing cars, they need to be of high quality. The car’s kinetic energy is converted into thermal energy in the brakes. This energy conversion is realized by friction due to activation of the brakes. The brake pads are pressed onto the brake disc causing friction.

Test results for the beginning-of-testing battery testing are provided herein. Battery test results include those from the Static Capacity Test and the Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC) Test1.
Static Capacity Test Results
Static capacity test results are summarized in the fact sheet. The test was perfomed on July 15, 2009 with a vehicle odometer reading of 93 miles. The measured average C/1-rate capacity was 6.09 Ah compared with the manufacturer’s rated capacity of 6.5 Ah. The measured average energy capacity was 1310 Wh. Figure 1 is a graph of battery voltage versus energy discharged. This graph illustrates the voltage values during the constant current discharge versus the cumulative energy discharged from the battery at a C/1 discharge rate.

03-06 Nissan 350z Test pipes with Built in mechanical O2 sensor fix

Before you begin, allow engine to cool down. Spray down all bolts & nuts with WD-40 (or similar) and allow it to soak into the threads. The nuts & bolts will seize themselves onto the threads and spaying them down with Liquid Wrench or similar will make it much easier to remove the nuts & bolts.
- Test pipes laid out & test pipes laid out w/ additional wide band O2 ports.
- Close up detail of mechanical O2 sensor fix
- Remove 3 14mm nuts at exhaust manifold/catalytic converter flange. There are three nuts holding the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold. Two nuts are facing the ground on one side of the flange, the third nut is on the opposite side of the flange. Use a 14mm stubby wrench or “S” wrench to remove the third nut. Repeat for other side.

2009 Ford F-150 Adds K-Bag Air Bags
The all-new 2009 Ford F-150 – which features an exclusive air bag technology – provides better side-impact crash safety than the Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram and Nissan Titan, according to a new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The F-150 earned an IIHS “Top Safety Pick” last November and quadruple 5-star government crash test ratings in January – making it the only full-size pickup to achieve both top crash-test ratings. Combined with the most standard safety features in the segment, the F-150 is America’s safest full-size pickup.

Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121 Car Test

At the time of writing, the Fiesta 1.25LX’s list price is a bit lower than the 121 ZX equivalent, but when you add the extras to the Ford to match the 121’s standard kit, it’s the Mazda that comes out cheaper. As well as this equipment (with the optional central locking pack and power steering) the Fiesta also boasts a handset control for its locks and some interior courtesy lighting that the 121 lacks. On the other hand, the Mazda comes with a useful front seat map pocket, painted bumpers (look good but less practical), a fully sliding sunroof and wider-section tyres. It also has a three- year/60,000-mile warranty – but see our “Costs in Service” panel. You can’t buy a 1.4 Mazda at present, however, as this even more attractive power unit is a Ford prerogative. Actually, both these engines were developed with the help of Yamaha – the politics of the modern motor industry are as complex as the products!

Walking up to the Lancer Hatch most people stop, look and wonder come they are holding the keys to such a good looking car … Sadly the sexy Hatch really does put the sibling sedan into the shade, and not just on looks. Most people Road-Tests.com spoke with – and indeed the preference of the Road-Tests.com crew – prefer hatch variants to sedans. Unsurprisingly then, Mitsubishi are bringing in an up-specified sedan to keep the fleet buyers happy. And we are sure that a strategic move like that will keep them happy. What will keep their staff happier still is the Lancer Hatch.
