Colley as they attempt a 10,000-mile world-first drive behind the wheel of a factory-prepared Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Richard and Phil set off from Tokyo last month (June) to drive from Japan’s capital to London’s Trafalgar Square, a journey which would see them become the first people to drive the full extent of the new Asian Highway road network.

2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400
Aston Martin is not only showing the DBS for the first time in Europe at the Frankfurt motor show next week but will also showcase two new special editions – the Aston Martin DB9 LM and the V8 Vantage N400. Both special editions draw inspiration from the company’s recent achievements at Le Mans and the Nurburgring 24-hour races.
The V8 Vantage N400 commemorates Aston Martin’s achievements at the Nurburgring where the company enjoyed success in the gruelling ADAC 24-hour race with the V8 Vantage N24 production race car. Aston Martin develops and tests all of its road cars extensively on the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit and the Vantage N400 recently broke the eight minute benchmark around the legendary 14-mile circuit.

2008 Aston Martin DBR9 Le Mans Victory
One year on from Aston Martin’s first victory in the GT1 class in 2007 – which was the first Le Mans win since the company triumphed overall in 1959 – the 009 DBR9 of David Brabham, Antonio Garcia and Darren Turner has claimed another GT1 win at the La Sarthe circuit. The elegant modern pavilion, designed by the Weedon Partnership in collaboration with Austrian pre-fabrication specialists Holzbau Saurer, has been built using the latest construction technology and is a showcase for environmentally sustainable design. The architecture is modern and uncompromising, making extensive use of structural wood and large expanses of glass. The modular wooden structure has been sourced from managed forests in Austria and Switzerland. The studio has taken just six months to build and only 12 months to complete from its design conception to realisation.

Composites Applications for the Aston Martin DB9
Composites provide a wide range of advantages over conventional metal forming processes used in automotive manufacture. These include weight reduction, styling flexibility, lower tooling investment, part consolidation and customer satisfaction. Composite components can be found in structural and semi-structral applications, under-the-hood components, and exterior (Class-A) body panels. The vast majority of the components used at Ford are exterior body panels produced using the SMC process and include : hood, GOR and front fenders (Lincoln Navigator); tailgate (Volvo V70); hood, decklid, front fenders, package tray and removeable hard top (Ford Thunderbird); rear fenders (Ford F150 Flareside); and GOR, pickup box inner/outer and tonneau cover (Ford Explorer Sport Trac). Data from the Automotive Composites Alliance has shown that SMC useage in North America has almost doubled from just over 100,000 tonnes in 1998 to almost 200,000 tonnes in 2004, with the growth trend almost certain to continue.
