Auburn Gear Mini-Spool Installation Instructions
The Auburn Gear mini-spools are designed to be “c” lock compatible, but there are certain applications where “c” lock eliminator kits must be used. Any ring and pinion ratio that does not allow the differential cross pin to be completely removed (due to ring gear thickness) must use a “c” lock eliminator kit. For safety reasons, Auburn Gear highly recommends the use of “c” lock eliminator kits which will retain the axle shaft in the event of axle failure. The Auburn Gear mini-spool replaces the differential side gears and pinion gears of the stock open differential with a device that couples both axle shafts together allowing maximum torque to both wheels.

Cable Routing and Installation (a) Install and route the tuner cable from the center cluster and along the front support bar. (Fig. 3-1) (b) Provide sufficient cable slack to connect to the tuner, and then secure the cable to the existing wire harness with lock tie. Cut excess off lock tie. 1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. Wait one minute for air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
2. Remove Steering Wheel (3600) as outlined.
3. Remove Steering Column from vehicle as outlined.
4. Remove steering column lower yoke (3N725), steering column upper bearing spring (3520), suspension height sensor control ring (3C131) and steering column bearing tolerance ring (3L539).

Attach:
1. Push Pin Release Handle down to pull out Connecting Pins.
2. Drive vehicle slowly to engage Pushplates into Attachment Arms.
3. Stand in front of blade. Fully raise Pin Release Handle to release Connecting Pins.
4. Push Headgear toward vehicle to allow Connecting Pins to fully engage Pushplates. If unable to push Headgear from in front of blade, stand in front of Headgear on driver side and push Headlamp Bracket.
5. Pull out Jack Lock. Push Pin Release Handle into Stop.
