2008 Ford Leads Child Crash Test Dummy

Ford developed the more lifelike abdomen in conjunction with Dearborn-based STR Systems, a safety technology and research firm; The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Wayne State University in Detroit; the University of Virginia; and Takata Corporation, a global manufacturer of automotive safety systems.
The prototype pediatric abdomen insert is similar in size and shape to that of a 6-year-old child and is made of multiple layers of liquid silicone that, when solidified, forms a tough silicone shell. Inside is a set of electrodes immersed in a conductive fluid that comprise the sensors for the abdomen – six electrodes at the front of the abdomen and one reference electrode at the back.

2008 Alfa Romeo Spider 2.4 JTDM

The powerful 200 bhp 2.4 JTDM 20v engine is now available on the Alfa Spider family, combined with a sporty 6-speed gearbox. The new version will be on the market in Italy and Germany in mid February, followed shortly thereafter by the other markets.
It guarantees excellent power and torque delivery and low fuel consumption in all driving conditions; in fact performance by the 200 bhp Alfa Spider 2.4 JTDM 20v is superb (it has a top speed of more than 228 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds), yet consumption is limited: in the urban cycle the car consumes 9.2 litres every 100 km, out of town this becomes 5.4 litres and in the mixed cycle it is about 6.8 litres.
