2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited CRD Police Patrol
Australian Victoria Police took delivery of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited CRD last week. The Wrangler replaces the now famous Chrysler 300C previously used by the Victorian Police at key public events. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is part of their winter campaign for snow safety around the Victorian snow fields. The vehicle will be hard to miss with fluorescent Police signage and flashing lights.

Jeep Liberty 3.7L (210hp)
The Liberty was the first Jeep to use two new PowerTech engines, a 150 hp 2.4 L I4 and a 210 hp 3.7 L V6. Despite popular belief, the Liberty was not the first Jeep vehicle to use an independent suspension, as the Jeep Wagoneer first used it in the 1960s.
Four-wheel disc brakes were added for 2003. For 2005, a 2.8 L VM Motori turbodiesel engine became available in the CRD model. Although diesel engines are not familiar in the American market, Jeep reported that they sold 10,000 Liberty CRD models in the first calendar year of sales. Only available in 2005 and 2006, the CRD has since been discontinued due to stricter diesel emission standards for 2007.

The Jeep J8 is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 118 kW (158 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of torque, providing towing capability of up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs.). The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The J8 also features a unique air-intake system with special filtration and a hood-mounted snorkel that enables the J8 to wade in water up to 762 mm (30 in.) deep and tackle sandstorm conditions for up to five hours.
