2009 Mercedes C IIHS Top Safety Pick

The respected Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States has named the Mercedes-Benz C-Class one of its Top Safety Picks for 2009 – the best reason to buy in terms of safety. The C-Class achieved good ratings in all the safety criteria which were examined.
Each year, the experts at the IIHS rate new vehicle models based on stringent safety criteria, thereby providing an important tool to help buyers make a decision. In the latest assessments, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class was subjected to front and side crash tests. The safety specialists in the USalso evaluated protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. For all three criteria, the C-Class was awarded top marks.

2008 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG DTM Safety Car

The new C 63 AMG will be at the start as the official Safety Car for the second DTM race of the season in Oschersleben (April 19/20, 2008). The top-of-the-range C-Class model with its 336 kW/ 457 hp AMG 6.3-litre V8-engine and modifications to the brakes, suspension, cooling and exhaust system is in perfect shape for its demanding task. 2008 Mercedes-Benz SL Class

The SL 350 is powered by a newly developed, extremely high-revving sports engine boasting an impressive output of 315 hp yet returns a fuel consumption figure that is improved by 1.1 mpg over that of its predecessor. The SL range will feature a six-cylinder model in the shape of the SL 350 as well as the familiar SL 500 with a V8 engine and the top-of-the-range SL 600 with a V12 powerplant. The Mercedes sports car extends its lead in the safety stakes courtesy of bi-xenon headlamps, included as standard, and the Intelligent Light System whose light functions are designed specifically for typical driving situations. Further new features on board include AIRSCARF neck-level heating. This system – invented by Mercedes-Benz and available as an optional extra – enhances comfort when driving with the roof down, extending the roadster season until well into the winter months. 2008 Audi A3 Awarded IIHS Top Safety

For 2008, the IIHS added the Audi A3 to the list of Audi models designated as “Top Safety Pick” in the Midsize category. 2007 “Top Safety Pick” winners A4 and A6 continued into 2008 in the Midsize and Large car category, respectively. Audi is the only German luxury auto manufacturer with the distinction of having three models listed as a “Top Safety Pick.” To achieve this distinction, vehicles must receive a top rating of “Good” for passenger protection in off-set frontal, side, and rear crash tests. In addition, IIHS vehicle test now include occupant safety measures and crash prevention criterion. Vehicles must have an available electronic stability program, which Audi has standard on every model it produces.
