2002-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX/STI Front Mount Intercooler
1) Raise hood and disconnect battery.
2) Remove existing intercooler by removing (2) 12mm bolts, and (2) hose clamps. Remove Throttle Body Coupler. (1) hose clamp.
3) Remove intercooler support brackets, (2) 12mm bolts on drivers side bracket, and (2) 12mm bolts on passenger side bracket.
4) Remove intake system up to turbo inlet hose. This includes removing the rubber intake elbow (2 hose clamps), filter box (2 12mm bolt located on chassis), and resonator box (2 10mm nuts). Resonator box can be better reached when bumper is removed.
5) Remove coolant overflow tank (either 2 10mm bolts, or one clip) from radiator & drain into suitable container. NOTE: Coolant will be reused later.

Step 1: Remove the clips (1-4) and the two side skirt clips in the front to gain access to the body. Cautionary Note: Be careful not to rip the wheel well plastic. It tears easily. Pull back slowly!

On 1994 and 1995 models: NOTE the below removal procedures pertain to the OE blower motor that was a two piece set up. Remove the cross tower or cross member brace. Disconnect solenoid purge valve electrical and vacuum connectors. Position components aside for access. Remove solenoid purge valve. Remove 3 center screws and inertia plate from blower motor. Reinstall two screws to prevent motor and housing from separating. Disconnect wiring connector from blower motor. Remove 5 blower mounting screws.

Some owners may comment on noise and/or vibration from the HVAC blower motor.

2001-2003 Chevrolet Silverado Ignition Distributor System Corrosion Inspect/Replace
General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2001-03 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra model vehicles, equipped with a 4.3L V6 (RPO L35 – VIN W or RPO LU3 – VIN X) engine. The ignition distributor cap and rotor in these vehicles may corrode and cause ignition system failure. Inspect and seal cowl area and install Rain-Hat Extension Seal. Inspect and replace blower motor and/or blower motor resistor if there is evidence of water/corrosion. Refer to the following Service.

1. Access blower motor and resistor per the Workshop Manual Sections 412-02 and 412-04. Inspect for evidence of water/corrosion. If water/corrosion are found or parts have failed, replace per Workshop Manual (blower motor 1F1Z-19805-AA and resistor F6DZ-19A706-AA).
