2008 Volkswagen Touareg R50
Its power of 258 kW / 350 PS (at 3,500 rpm) positions the new Touareg version among the most powerful SUVs in the world. The engine characteristic of the Volkswagen Touareg R50 is marked by a torque level nearly unattainable by the competition: The V10 TDI of the Volkswagen Touareg R50 develops its enormous power of 850 Newton-meter at a low 2,000 rpm. The turbo diesel was derived from the well-known ten cylinder with 230 kW / 313 PS. Adjustments to its turbo charging and modified engine management enabled a 28 kW / 37 PS increase in power and a considerable 100 Newton-meter increase in maximum torque. Under these new parameters, the SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds (production car: 7.4 seconds); its top speed is 235 km/h. In relation to engine power and vehicle size, the fuel consumption of the production ten-cylinder diesel equipped with a particulate filter is a moderate 9.6 liters per 100 km (highway) and 12.6 liters per 100 km (overall). Despite big gains in power and torque, its DIN fuel consumption values have remained constant compared to the Touareg V10 TDI.

2007 JE DESIGN Volkswagen Touareg R5
The Touareg R 5 has been given a performance boost, which increases the basic power of the 2.5 l TDI engine from 128 kW / 174 bhp to 152 kW / 206 bhp. Following this performance enhancement, the maximum torque goes up to 460 Nm. JE DESIGN also supplies a performance enhancement package for the Touareg V 10 5.0 TDI, which gives the brawny VW 259 kW / 352 bhp, equating to an increase of 29 kW / 39 bhp. Following this enhancement, the maximum torque is increased from 750 Nm to 855 Nm. Placed between R 5 and V 10, the 3.0 V6 TDI completes the available engine offering. 165 kW / 225 bhp and 500 Nm are the standard values of this engine. A power plus of 45 kW and a torque increased by 50 Nm propel the Touareg in 8,9 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (standard: 9,9 sec) and enable a top speed of 207 km/h (plus 6 km/h).

2008 Abt Touareg Unveiled
Abt has made the optically clearly improved version of the SUV from Wolfsburg also very sporty: at the moment, three diesel engines are available, and all of them come with a power increase. That is particularly obvious with the popular 3.0 TDI, which, in this version, delivers 270hp (199kW) instead of the serial 225hp (165kW) and 550Nm torque.

Miata NB Oil Pressure Sender Replacement

The Mazda Miata is a very well balanced car and a good value on a per-smile basis, but the one thing that has bothered me since I bought the car is the fake oil pressure gauge. In a brilliant move which must save $0.50 per car, Mazda replaced the original Miata’s oil pressure sender which was a real analog gauge with a nice digital idiot light type unit. To keep the gauge from looking odd with the needle pinned, they install the gauge needle so that it sits in the normal range when there is any amount of oil pressure in the engine. So there is two states to the gauge, “normal” where you have pressure, and “dead” where the gauge and your engine are both “dead”. As has been stated elsewhere, this is the worst of all possible solutions. An idiot light would most likely catch your eye rather quickly. But this gauge which never moves is easily forgotten and when the needle does move, chances are it won’t be noticed.

60 Years Volkswagen Van
In 1947, a vehicle that staff had built to transport heavy panels around Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg factory provided the inspiration for the concept sketch for the first Volkswagen T1 van, famous for its split-windscreen.

Since then, Volkswagen vans, from the original T1 to today’s T5, have become legendary and put to a wide spectrum of uses – by commercial customers, as a holiday campervan, people carrier, and most famously as the cool transport of choice for the flower-power generation and the surfing community.
