Audi A3/A4 M4C-STA4 Comfort Roof Control Module Installation
Installation – Steps 1-3
1. Turn the ignition on and open the roof completely. Then start closing the roof and stop when the rear lid is fully open (vertical position). This enables access to the area marked (2). IMPORTANT: Turn off the ignition and remove key before continuing! Remove rear seat bench (lift up front portion with force), then remove T-30 torx screw (1).
2. Remove rear side panel: First pull towards the center of the car (1) then lift up and slide up and frontward out. Simultaneously pull the back rest up (where the torx screw was removed earlier). The side panel is just snapped into place and can be lifted off along the rubber edge (2). Directly behind the panel is the roof controller box.

Before starting any operation disconnect the negative battery connection and reconnect it only once the installation has been completed.
During installation avoid touching the connection terminals of the TS control unit socket with your fingers.
Once the old control units have been removed, secure the new TS control units to the vehicle bodywork in the same position.

- Disconnect the 4-pin harness connector -1- at one ignition coil -2-. Note: For further testing, connect the multimeter to harness connector in place of an ignition coil. – Connect multimeter for voltage measurement as follows. Harness connector Measure to Terminal 1 Engine Ground (GND) – Switch ignition on. Specified value: approx. battery voltage – Switch ignition off. If specified value is not obtained: – Remove rubber seal for plenum chamber cover. – Remove plenum chamber cover -1- toward front (arrows). – Pry off both covers -3- using a screwdriver. – Loosen hex-nuts -4- by several turns. – Loosen wiper arm -2- from wiper axle by lightly tilting. – Remove hex nuts completely and remove wiper arms. – Disconnect securing clips -1- and remove cowl grill -5-. – Remove cover for E-box, plenum chamber (arrows). – Pry off Engine Read more
