The Mercedes-Benz Museum is now officially home to the “strongest artificially generated tornado in the world”. The attempted record was confirmed in the presence of Guinness Book of Records representative Olaf Kuchenbecker. The 34.4-metre-high artificial tornado serves to eliminate smoke from the museum in the event of a fire.

“We are delighted that the Mercedes-Benz Museum is now also featured in the Guinness Book of Records,” said Michael Bock, manager of Mercedes-Benz Museum GmbH. “By successfully achieving the world record as ‘strongest artificially generated tornado in the world’, the Mercedes-Benz Museum has once again underlined its outstanding position in the world of museums also in terms of architecture.”

2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP
The Pontiac Solstice has been the rare ray of sunshine in General Motors’ winter of discontent. The Wilmington, Delaware, plant is working three shifts and Saturdays keeping up with Kappa-car demand, now stretching beyond Pontiac and Saturn (Sky) to Opel (GT) and Daewoo (G2X). Andrew Aquilante drove a Solstice to a podium finish in its SCCA showroom stock debut, and slideways champion Rhys Millen is hanging tail in a Red Bull-sponsored Solstice drifter. 2007 BMW X3
At its 2003 introduction, the X3 offered something no one else could—a luxury-compact with the versatility and all-road capability of a sport-utility, combined with the quality, performance and handling of a BMW. Compared to the large domestic and Japanese sport-utility vehicles then dominating the market, the X3 offered a smaller, more nimble, yet in many ways equally versatile alternative. The X3 also introduced drivers to xDrive, BMW’s “intelligent” all-wheel-drive system that offers near-instantaneous torque apportioning with changing road conditions. Nothing else in its class came close, and the X3 quickly reached virtually the same sales figures as its larger, X5 sibling.
