2008 Volkswagen Tiguan Unveiled

Volkswagen is showing the new Tiguan in a world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. This “small brother” of the Touareg can be recommended to all those car drivers who enjoy the individual visual appearance and versatility of a SUV, but also expect a premium level of comfort, agility and variability. Its chassis sets new standards in the world of SUVs, because i t is extremely driving-active and safe. All five engines – for the first time on the global SUV market all engines are charged without exception – already deliver, powerful propulsion just above the idling speed. Today, the completely new and very quiet common rail TDIs already satisfy the Euro-5 standard that does not go into effect until 2009. Upon request, the Tiguan can be parked nearly automatically in the urban jungle by the Park Assist feature. Off-road, on the other hand, the latest radio-navigation system (RNS 510) navigates its occupants back to civilization using its off-road function. Meanwhile, with up to 1,510 liters of cargo space, the Tiguan exhibits van qualities. 2,500 kilograms of trailer load also define the absolute best value in the Tiguan segment.

2008 Volvo C70 Diesel

Volvo is extending the engine options in its stylish C70 coupe convertible range with the addition of the popular 136PS 2-litre turbodiesel. The 2.0D powerplant has already established itself as a firm favourite amongst Volvo customers1 and will now offer C70 drivers a combination of enhanced driving pleasure and impressive fuel economy. 2009 Volkswagen Phaeton

The Phaeton V6 TDI: To satisfy emission limits of the Euro 5 standard that becomes mandatory in 2009, one requirement that must be satisfied is an 80 percent reduction in the soot particulate limit compared to the Euro 4 standard. The new Phaeton V6 TDI fulfills this requirement with its common rail direct injection engine. The second generation of the V6 TDI now outputs 171 kW / 233 PS, eight PS more than its predecessor. Nonetheless, the new TDI is satisfied with just 9.6 liters diesel per 100 kilometers. The 450 Nm strong six-cylinder accelerates the Phaeton to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds; its top speed is now 236 km/h.

2007 Mercedes Benz R 280 CDI

Mercedes-Benz continues to upgrade its R-Class. Through the introduction of the new R 280 CDI 4MATIC und R 63 AMG 4MATIC models, which will become available this autumn, the touring SUV’s product range will be expanded to five engine variants. As a result, the output range of the six and eight-cylinder engines will extend from 140 kW/190 hp to 375 kW/510 hp. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz will equip the R-Class with additional driver-support systems that will ensure even more driving comfort. 2008 Volkswagen Phaeton

Volkswagen has announced pricing and specification for its revised Phaeton luxury saloon ahead of the new car’s arrival in September this year. Revision highlights include updated interior and exterior styling as well as a new 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine which boasts more power than the outgoing unit, and which is the first Volkswagen engine to comply with the stringent Euro V emissions legislation.
The new 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine uses common rail technology and has a maximum power output of 233 PS, eight PS more than its predecessor. It produces 450 Nm of torque, has a 0 to 62 mph time of 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 146 mph. Nonetheless it returns a respectable 29.4 mpg on the combined cycle. One requirement of the new Euro V emissions legislation – which does not become law until 2009 – is an 80 per cent reduction in particulates compared with Euro IV, and this has been achieved with this engine.

2008 Audi A5 TDI Engine Option

Audi FSI and TDI engines join the all new A5 coupé range this week with additional refinements that boost output while at the same time maximising efficiency.
The 3.2-litre V6 FSI petrol is a development of the much praised unit powering A4, A6 and A8 models, its power increased in the A5 from 256PS to 265PS and its 330Nm torque peak delivered lower down the range at 3,000rpm, and across a wider band stretching to 5,000rpm. The A5 3.2 FSI takes a minimum of 6.6 seconds to reach 62mph from rest, can reach an electronically limited maximum speed of 155mph and yet is also capable of returning up to 31.7mpg.
