Step 1: Prior to lifting the vehicle it is recommended that you measure the stock height so that you have a base line measurement. Measure from the bottom of the wheel to the lip of the fender. Position the truck on a flat surface and lift front wheels off of ground. Use jack stands or a (2) two post lift if available. Remove the driver’s side front wheel. (shown to the right)
Step 2: Place a floor jack under the lower a-arm and raise jack to a level that the coil has been compressed but the truck is still firmly sitting on the jack stands. Next use a coil compressor to secure the coil in its compressed state.
Caution: Failure to do this step may allow the coil spring to release from the vehicle in a violent action and may cause serious injury or death. Once this step has been done, loosen and remove the Shock Absorber (A), Sway Bar Hardware (B), Tie Rod End (C) and Upper Ball Joint Nut (D) from the spindle.

The U.S. Version of the Audi TT Coupe (and Roadster) does not come factory equipped with daytime running light capability. Daytime running lights being headlamps or similar, smaller lamps that are on whenever the ignition of the car is on. These lamps then also remain on when the parking lights and the headlights are turned on. I feel daytime running lights add to the safety level and overall appearance of any car. You’re more visible to pedestrians and other motorists and the car looks better in the frontal view. So, the challenge was to determine the best way to add daytime running lights to the TT Coupe. Since the TT is equipped with fog lights that are built in to the headlight cluster the plan was to try to modify the circuitry controlling the fog lights to make them behave like daytime running lights. However, I also needed to retain the normal on/off fog light operation during use of the headlights.

These instructions will walk you through the few steps required to install the system. Note that this system is compatible with all versions of the Z3, Z3 Coupe and M Roadster or M Coupe, regardless of model year or headlight variation.

The kit is very easy to install. But you must take your time. It is suggested that you wear eye protection when installing the system if your product is fitted with the optional DDE Lightning Plus™ rings. All fluorescent lamps contain small amounts of the element Mercury. If you break a ring do not blow the debris away or inhale the powder. Wipe up any debris with a damp paper towel and dispose of it. Handle the rings with care until they are installed inside of the bezel of the headlights and they will provide years of trouble free operation. Lamps can last for over 100,000 hours of operation.

Please be advised the vehicle in this example is a 2001 A4. 1997-1999.5 have a different headlight arrangement and no MAP sensor. Removing the two-piece headlights on 1997-1999.5 cars is a simple process and should be self explanatory.
1. Turn the wheels all the way to one side, remove the fender liner screws. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite sides and repeat.
2. Unhook the tab for the lower grill and remove. Repeat for the other side.
3. Remove the two hex bolts from the bottom of the bumper with a 6mm hex wrench.
4. Unhook the tabs for the front bumper. First, push down on the bumper, then pull outwards. This process can be frightening for a first timer, as it takes a lot of force to pull the bumper skin away from the vehicle after pushing downwards. Repeat for the other side.
